Welcome to Second Grade!

My passion for teaching began when I attended school in Newport News at Christopher Newport University. I started working part-time at a preschool and immediately realized what my career will be, teaching. Since then I have worked for over seven years at preschools who implement a STEM curriculum and teach the core areas of mathematics, science, reading, writing, as well as secondary languages. My passion for teaching has never wavered and for going on seven years I enjoyed every single moment of being in the classroom. It is from my experiences teaching early education I see firsthand how important a strong educational, social, and critical thinking foundation can be to empower students and to help them succeed. I currently hold two degrees, a Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature from Christopher Newport University as well as an Associates in General Studies from John Tyler Community College. My education will not end there, I am going to work towards earning my Master's Degree in Education. My teaching philosophy is to see each child for their unique strengths, weaknesses, and characteristics, then to help guide their personal growth and development through their academic career.
