Description
 Welcome to 4th Grade English/Language Arts! I am very excited to educate your child and encourage them to set and reach new academic goals.
In this class, we will be honing and developing the skills that students learned last year in grade 3. This year, we will practice: proficiently and independently reading literary and informational text, applying a variety of strategies to read unknown words in and out of context, writing explanatory and opinion pieces, and collaborating in group discussions. 
As we move towards AzMerit and NWEA growth assessments, students will be provided with the necessary tools to reach independent and class academic growth goals. 
 
Students are expected to be 100% prepared for class every single day. This means coming to class with completed homework, Firebird planner, pencils, notebooks, and a positive attitude. Coming to class prepared and ready to learn will ensure the most academic growth.
 
Homework will be assigned nightly (except for Fridays). Study Island assignments and Reading Logs are assigned weekly.
 
We will have spelling tests and reading comprehension tests every Friday. Students are expected to study their daily lessons in order to prepare for these examinations.
