Studio Procedures

Students entering the classroom have bell work to complete. Bell work is the first 5-7 minutes of every class.

It is comprised of:

6 deep breaths

reading the colors on a colored word chart - which sets your eyes as dominant information source

draw three quick sketch techniques: lines, circles, figure 8s

Draw the still life in the center of the room

 

Bell work is SILENT this allows for the eyes to take control of input of information. It is the same skill needed to drive a car. In art we are not only working on artistic expression, critical  problem solving skills we are also learning how to see to drive.

Please speak with your student about taking this time very seriously. It is brain based and designed to help them get the most of the class.
