Principal's Message

Dear AVA Parents and Guardians,

It is my honor to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope your summer break is going well, and you and your families are remaining healthy and happy. The staff at AVA is busy working to ensure that this school year is an amazing experience for your scholar. I, personally, am excited to begin this school year, as it will be my and Ms. Wallace’s first full year with AVA.

 

As we slowly transition out of a pandemic, and into an endemic, the mission of AVA remains the same: building tomorrow’s global leaders in a virtual environment. We are looking forward to working together to continue building a school that integrates distance learning with the vision of the Academy of Math and Science. We certainly need your
continued support and feedback as we move forward into a new school year, so we are encouraging each of you to communicate with your teacher and administrator on a consistent basis on what is benefitting your scholar and what may be hindering his or her growth.

 

Please look out for communication throughout the summer as we get closer to the first day of school. Prior to our first day, we will need to distribute Chromebooks and Welcome Packets, and verify methods of communication such as phone numbers and email addresses. Communication is so key to the success of an online scholar, and it is imperative that we each have an open line of effective communication from day one.

At AVA, we pride ourselves on the opportunities to deliver engaging lessons in a synchronous environment where scholars and teachers have direct engagement throughout the day. This incredibly personalized school day is one of the many things that make us different from other online schools in the Valley. We also maintain high expectations for ourselves, our scholars, and our families to ensure the triangle of responsibility remains strong and balanced. A prepared scholar increases the probability of a successful scholar; so in-between the many family memories that are being made this summer, please ensure that your scholar is taking some time each day to actively engage in reading and mathematics. There are several websites such as Khan Academy to practice prior year math skills to prepare for the upcoming school year and visiting the library once a week offers the opportunity to check out a book that excites your scholar as well as challenges them. This will get he or she in the mindset of a global learner, ready for the first day of educational challenges to begin.
