Hello parents/guardians!

I have the pleasure of teaching 5th and 6th English Language Arts and Social studies for the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Danelle Woodman and I use the pronouns she/her/they. You may call me Ms. Danelle! This is my first year as a teacher, but I have 4 years of experience working with students and youth in both formal educational settings and enrichment programs. I am originally from Northern Arizona in a small town called Sanders, one of the southern-most towns on the Navajo Nation. I grew up multi-racial on the reservation as an Afro-Indigenous Latina. I have strong cultural roots to my Native American heritage, and I am proud to have grown up speaking my indigenous language and learning to cook traditional foods!

Before joining AMS this year, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Azusa Pacific University, located in the greater Los Angeles Area. Currently, I am working toward my Master of Arts in Transformative Social Change, Peace and Justice Studies at Saybrook University. I am passionate about community and youth development through a social justice lens. Outside of my work, I enjoy writing poetry, cooking every dish known to humanity, and going for a run on a dirt trail in the early morning.

I am excited about the experience I will embark on this year at AMS, and I am looking forward to serving you and your students! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via phone or email if you have any concerns or questions.
