Miss Mataele's Biography

Aloha! (Greeting in Hawaiian)
My name is Mounu Mataele. My parents were both born and raised in the small island kingdom of Tonga (located in The South Pacific near Samoa, Tahiti and Fiji). I was born in Hawaii, raised in Utah and and lived in the Philippines (and yes I speak Tagalog the national language).
I've never been married or had children, but of course love my many students as my own:). I'm close with my siblings spread across the United States in Massachusetts, Hawaii, California, Washington and Arizona. My niece who is named after me lives in Phoenix and my parents are in Utah.
Second grade was one of my favorite grades in elementary. It is one of my favorite grades to teach. I believe the most important thing every child needs to know is that they are loved unconditionally.
My mother is a retired librarian. I believe reading is to the mind what exercise it to the body. I think book series are one of the best ways to help students love to read.
