Grading:

Assessments: 65% of the student’s grade

There will be two types of assessments: Fitness Tests/Skill Performance Tests and Cognitive Knowledge Tests

Fitness Tests & Skill Performance Test:

  • Students’ grades on these tests are based on participation, attitude, and effort, not on how well they perform.
  • The ‘scores’ students receive are meant to reflect current fitness and skill levels, which then will be used to set future goals and measure improvement.

Cognitive Knowledge:

  • Students will take unit tests, a midterm, and a final.
  • Students will be evaluated on knowledge of safety, rules, and techniques of various activities, as well as knowledge of health and nutrition.

Homework & Projects: 20% of the students grade

    • Students will be assigned projects and homework throughout the year. Some examples would be an exercise log, short research paper, or an essay.
    • Homework is due the following class. For example, if homework is assigned on Monday 7/26, then it is due the following Monday 8/2.
    • If you are absent the day homework is due, you MUST turn that homework in the following day. For example, if homework is due Monday 8/2, but you are absent, you must bring the homework to me on Tuesday 8/3; you do not have an extra week to turn in the homework.
  • Late homework will not be accepted.

Classwork & Quizzes: 15% of the students grade

  • Each class, students will receive points for the day that reflect their preparedness and participation (10 points=100%)
  • Students maintain full points each class period by coming to class fully prepared, and by showing a positive attitude and effort.
  • Students will lose 2 points for each of the following:
    • NO WATER BOTTLE
    • INAPPROPRIATE SHOES (e.g., open-toed shoes, sandals, dress shoes)
    • NO PLANNER (grades 3-8)
    • POOR or ZERO PARTICIPATION

**  It is the student’s responsibility to make up any homework, quizzes, or tests due to absence. You will have until the week before the end of each quarter to do so; zero’s will be entered after that.   **
