About Ms Riggle

Hello AMS family! My name is Jennifer Riggle, this is my second year with the Academy of Math and Science. I am excited to be part of the brand new online Advanced Virtual Academy (AMS AVA) as an eighth grade science teacher. My previous educator experience includes 10+ years tutoring in high school AVID programs, 1 year working with elementary level after school/summer school programs run by the Boys’ & Girls’ Club, and almost 5 years as a gallery interpreter (educator) with the Arizona Museum of Natural History.


I am originally from California, and I am a first generation college student. My parents did not go to college, nor did their parents. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in General Geology/Geophysics from the University of California, Riverside in June 2014. It was a long and difficult road - but I am proud of the effort and determination I put in to make it through. I am excited about the opportunity to teach your young scholars.

Learning During School Closures

Just a reminder - even though schools are physically closed until April 10* (latest estimate as of March 20), we are still providing curriculum and instruction to your students. I will do my best to make sure all of my assignments for math and science are made available here each day. This will put everything in one place in case you need to catch up on anything missed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this time. We are all learning new processes, procedures, and expectations. We'll get through this as a team.

Study Island

Study Island is an important part of the curriculum in our class. Students will receive 1 -3 assignments in Study Island for math and science every week. Study Island is a great way for students to gain mastery of all grade level standards. It will also allow students to catch up if they are behind on any concepts.
 

Prodigy

Students are encouraged to play Prodigy, a math game during their time off at home. AFTER all of their homework is complete.
 
Students may join my class and share their progress with me by using my class code.
