Mrs. Parr attended the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio for her bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education. She majored in Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies/Citizenship Education with a minor in American Studies. She then went on to complete her Master’s of Education at Slippery Rock University, in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, with a K-12 Reading certification and Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach endorsement. She holds a Title 1 teaching certificate. She began her career at the Academies of Math & Science- Peoria Advanced campus with two years’ experience substitute teaching and four years' experience in early childhood education administration- both in the Greater Pittsburgh Area in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Parr was the middle school English Language Arts teacher for our 6th and 7th grade scholars during the 2019-2020 school year. She has since joined the administrative team and is currently serving as our campus wide Instructional Coach.
She moved out west during the summer of 2019 with her husband, Richard, and their dog, Dollar. They enjoy exploring the outdoors and hiking together on the weekends. Mrs. Parr also enjoys photography and advising the Yearbook Club on campus as well as coaching the girl's basketball team.
Mrs. Parr is looking forward to bringing data-driven instructional practices and evidence-based behavior management strategies into classrooms by working with both students and teachers alike. She will be focused on coaching teachers on the Danielson Framework for Teaching which includes four specific domains: Planning and Preparation, The Classroom Environment, Professional Responsibilities, and Instruction. She is excited to serve the Peoria campus and act as an agent of positive change for our community.
