Principal Kane

Ashley Kane was born in Indiana and was raised in the beautiful hills of Brown County. In Indiana, her grandmother, the author, inspired her to take her love of reading and learning further to make it into a lifelong passion. After growing up in the country, she knew she wanted to trade in the hills for the lights of the city leading her to southern Indiana.

At the University of Southern Indiana, she received a dual degree in Elementary Education and French as well as a passion for teaching diverse students.  She moved to Phoenix after joining Teach for America to continue her love of teaching in the desert.  While in Phoenix, Mrs. Kane attended Arizona State University and received a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction focusing on supporting bilingual students.

After many years in Phoenix, Mrs. Kane returned to Indiana and led in the public school system while completing an additional Masters from Columbia University in New York City in Educational Leadership and Administration.  Finally, the call of the desert, the culture of the west, and the heat from the valley of the sun are all bringing Mrs. Kane back to now serve as your Kinder-3rd Grades Principal.

Mrs. Kane believes in an equal opportunity for all to learn, explore, and grow not only as a scholar but also as a citizen. Without supportive environments, our students will be unable to flourish; therefore, my role as your principal, is to ensure we build and sustain an environment where your student can challenge the status quo and lead by example.

AP BRADY

My love for teaching started in high school while volunteering at St. Peter’s Mission School located on the Gila River Indian Reservation. After graduating from Xavier College Preparatory I went to Northern Arizona University and majored in Early Education.  Later, I decided to continue my education in Educational Leadership with Grand Canyon University.  I have worked in many grades as a classroom teacher and have worn many hats at Title I schools in throughout the Phoenix area.  This will be my fourth year in a leadership role. I have a strong passion for creating a school environment that encourages best practices to ensure that every student is given the opportunity to discover how to become a lifelong learner.  I am absolutely thrilled to be AMSG’s K-3 Assistant Principal.

I joined the Academy of Math and Science family in January 2019 working as an Assistant Principal at the Desert Sky campus. It was a true pleasure to work with the Desert Sky community, enabling me to embrace the AMS culture and provide necessary support for our new Glendale campus.

In 2001, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree from Arizona State University; I earned my Master of Education in Leadership Degree in 2010 from Northern Arizona University (both Summa Cum Laude). Being highly qualified, I established my Teaching and Principal Certification from Arizona Department of Education with a Structured English Immersion endorsement (valid through 2030).

During my 17 years in the Peoria Unified School District, I spent over a decade teaching and seven years as an instructional coach. The bulk of my teaching experiences were in 6th grade (Writing, Math, and Science). However, I have also taught 3rd grade (all content) and 8th grade Algebra. My role as an instructional coach in PUSD provided me with the necessary leadership experience to strategically make positive changes and impact student learning.

I have ample experience with curriculum and assessment writing, at both district and state levels.  I pride myself in my ability to focus on school improvement having the capacity to support district and school administrators with the implementation of initiatives that foster academic and behavioral shifts.

Having lived in Glendale since 2004, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the community that I reside. I am looking forward to working with all Stakeholders and supporting my Academy of Math and Science family as we aim to empower our communities and grow together as a school family!

DEAN

I was born in raised in Phoenix, Arizona and I am excited to continue educating within the Glendale community. I graduated from Carl Hayden Community High School and quickly found that the education field was the path for me. I graduated Phoenix College and Arizona State University with a focus on secondary education. After teaching in the classroom for several years I returned to school to focus on educational administration, where I quickly learned that supporting the school outside a classroom was the next step in growing professionally.

I believe that all students can exceed expectations and can learn something new every day. I look forward to supporting the Glendale community and all the families who make it a great place to live.
