Mr. Avila's 5th Grade (5A)

Course Description

The job of the Teacher is arguably the most important responsibility of a society. The Teacher educates the youth of a nation with morals, values, core subjects and instills in them leadership qualities. My name is Ruben Avila also known by my students as Mr. Avila. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Education. I've taught students between the ages of seven to seventeen and grade levels k-12. In fact, in English Language Arts I've taught students to read and write when at first, they could not. In Mathematics, I've taken students from not being able to add or subtract to the beginnings of algebra. My students have been successful because my teaching philosophy revolves around the basic idea that if you apply yourself you will have success.

My belief is that life is spent best improving the lives of others through education. As a role model, I emphasize that success isn't given, it is obtained through hard work. So as a Teacher, I spend countless hours before and after school preplanning/ preparing lessons and materials for my students. As such, I expect students to try their best and if they need motivation I will be there to inspire their creative genius.

This will be a successful and amazing year because we have amazing students. Furthermore, at AMS we are dedicated to creating the brightest and most talented students that our collective minds can create.
