Good afternoon!
 
This week, students will complete our topic (Mitosis/Meiosis). The assignments for the week are:
 
Monday - Students will complete a Cells and Organelles Study guide assignment. 
 
Tuesday - We will complete the lab activity for Mitosis/Meiosis. For homework, students will complete their lab activity worksheets and turn in tomorrow. 
 
Wednesday - Students will have a Study Island assignment over Mitosis/Meiosis today. For homework, students will complete the Study Island assignment on Mitosis/Meiosis.
 
Thursday - Students will have a chance to review the key concepts of Mitosis/Meiosis in small groups and have one-on-one tutoring with Mrs. Dickson, if needed. As homework, students will receive an extra practice assignment to complete. All assignments from the week are due Friday.
 
Additional Notes: Students have been given Topic Worksheets that have all of the assignments for each topic. Assignments are split into Week 1 and Week 2. The purpose of this worksheet is for students to keep track of the assignments they have completed,  the score they received, or whether they still need to complete the assignment. Please check this worksheet daily to see if students are completing their assignments. I will send home a grade check every Friday, and this needs to be signed by a parent and returned every Monday.

Good afternoon!
 
This week, students will begin a new topic (Mitosis/Meiosis). The assignments for this week are:
 
Monday - We will start the new topic lecture and add notes to our journals using the INB template for Mitosis/Meiosis. We will also complete a modified note sheet along with the notes students write in their journals. For homework, students will make sure their notes are complete in their journals to receive their stamp tomorrow. 
 
Tuesday - Today, we will complete the lecture,  if necessary. After checking for completion of INB notes and modified notes,  students will copy vocabulary terms in the glossary of their journals and use their notes to define them. This should be completed as homework if students don't finish in class. 
 
Wednesday - Students will have a quiz over the Mitosis/Meiosis notes today. For homework, students will complete a worksheet on Mitosis/Meiosis.

This week, we will be completing our lessons on Cell Theory. We will begin Plant and Animal Cells next week.
 
Monday: We are completing a Cell Theory Study Island assignment in class. This will be homework if students do not complete in class. Please review cell theory notes as homework tonight.
 
Tuesday: We will complete the Cell Theory Lab assignment. Please complete as homework. Please review your vocabulary words tonight, as there will be a Cell Theory vocabulary quiz tomorrow.
 
Wednesday: Cell Theory Vocabulary quiz today! We will also do extra practice on Cell Theory to round out this topic. 
 
Thursday: We will do a Kahoot Review on Cell Theory for extra credit today! Take time this evening to make sure your notebooks are up to date. This includes table of contents, notes from topics we have covered, and page numbers.

Tuesday - Study Cell Theory vocabulary words; update science journal with interactive notebook template for cell theory (begin during lecture, complete at home)

Good morning, Parents and Guardians!
 
We will be performing the experiment portion of our Engineering and Design Process lesson, which is the Egg Drop! This will take place on Friday. All week, students will be working in their groups to design their containers to address their EDP project. We are also preparing for our Unit 1 Test on Monday! Topics included in this test are:
1) Lab Safety
2) Scientific Method
3) Measurements/SI Conversions
4) Engineering Design Process (EDP)
 
We will be working on a study guide this week to address all of these topics. Please remember that tests are worth 50% of your student's total grade, so studying for this should be taken very seriously.

Wednesday: Complete Unit 1 Test Study Guide
Thursday: Study for Unit 1 Test

Hello Parents/Guardians!
 
We are already halfway through the 1st quarter! Due to this, please be on the lookout for progress reports, which will be going out at the beginning of next week (the week of Labor Day). I will be going over current grades with students on Monday. If a student has a grade below a 70% C, please expect a message on Dojo or a phone call regarding your student’s progress in my class this week. Also remember that there will be no school on Monday, September 2nd. 
The homework for the week is as follows:
 
Monday: We are ending our lessons on graphing, so this will include a final practice exercise on making bar and line graphs. We will also do a small group activity on graphing. Anything not completed in class will be assigned as homework. 
 
Tuesday: Today is a quiz on graphing. We will begin a lecture on Engineering Design Process and vocabulary. EDP vocabulary should be copied into the science journal glossary (begins on page 60) as homework. 
 
Wednesday: We will begin doing EDP practice and set up for small group activities. Practice worksheets will be completed as homework if they do not finish in class. Study your vocabulary words for your quiz on Friday. 
 
Thursday: Students will complete small group activities on EDP today. Students should complete any unfinished work at home this evening. Study for your vocabulary quiz tomorrow.

Tuesday: We will have a quiz on SI Unit Conversions today. Whenwe are finished, we will begin Graphing vocabulary, which shouldbe written into your science journal glossary (begins on page 60of your science journal). Please study your vocabulary words thisevening for your quiz on Friday.

Wednesday: Today we will begin a lecture on Graphing. You willhave a graphing practice worksheet to complete as homeworktonight. Please use the "Graphing Steps" guide that we placed onpage 12 of our science journals to help you.

Today we are conducting a lab on Scientific Inquiry to address concepts learned last week. Students are rotating between stations and completing their lab report worksheet. Homework for the week is as follows:
 
Monday: Complete Scientific Inquiry Lab Worksheet (if needed). Study your notes on the Scientific method because you will have a quiz tomorrow!
 
Tuesday: We will have a quiz on the Scientific Method today, then work on vocabulary terms for measurement. These should be added to the glossary in the back of the science journals (after lab safety and inquiry vocabulary terms). Study "Measurement" Vocabulary Terms for quiz on Friday (terms 1-10).
 
Wednesday: We are starting a lecture on Measurement today. Please review your notes on measurement tonight and prepare for a worksheet/activity on measurement tomorrow.
 
Thursday: Complete measurement worksheet as homework and study for your vocabulary quiz tomorrow (terms 1-10).

This week, we are conducting a Lab Safety Lab, which will be held on Monday. Here are the homework assignments for the week:
 
Monday: Students completed the Lab Safety Lab today. If they have not finished their lab sheets, they must complete as homework and turn in tomorrow. Study your lab safety notes, as you will have a quiz tomorrow.
 
Tuesday: Students will have a quiz over lab safety today, and will begin lecture on Scientific Method. Please review vocabulary for the Scientific Method (located in your science journal, beginning on page 60). If you have not finished copying vocabulary to your notebook, please do so this evening. 
 
Wednesday: Students will complete their lecture of the Scientific Method today and will work on an assignment in class. If students do not complete in class, they must finish the assignments as homework.
 
Thursday: Students will continue working on the Scientific Method and prepare for their vocabulary quiz tomorrow. Review terms 9-20 in your science journals for your quiz tomorrow.
 
Friday: Students will have a vocabulary quiz over terms 9-20 in their science journals.

Good afternoon, All!
 
This week, we are working on getting to know classroom rules and procedures, as well as lab safety. All students have received a course syllabus for my class, and the back page must be completed and returned no later than Friday, August 2nd to receive credit. Assignments are as follows:
 
Monday: Setting up interactive science journal (please finish numbering notebook pages up to 100. The periodic table handout should be glued to page 3)
 
Tuesday: Complete the lab safety contract and have a parent/guardian read and sign. There was also a Science safety rules worksheet that was started in class. If the student didn't finish it in class, it needs to be completed as homework.
 
Wednesday: Students were given a list of vocabulary words for the first unit of study and were asked to copy them starting on page 60 of their interactive science journals. They should spend at least 30 minutes each evening reviewing these words.
 
Thursday: Students were given a Student and Parent Handbook that must be reviewed and signed by parents. This page is due by Friday and will count for credit.
 
Additional Notes:
- Students are expected to have their Science Journal and Student Planner/Agenda every day. They are expected to record activities done in class and homework assignments. Please review the planners daily to make sure that students are completing assignments in a timely manner.
 
- ALL HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK IS DUE BY FRIDAY. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.
 
- Our Friday Class Raffle will begin next week (depending on student behavior). If you would like to donate anything (school supplies, small toys or items that the kids would like, $5 gift cards) that would be greatly appreciated.
