All students received a Tracker to keep up with the scores of their Study Island Assignments. Many students are way behind on completing topics. 

 

Each student needs to work on getting Blue Ribbons on all “In Progress” assignments or the topics highlighted on their Tracker.

1. All students need to define the vocabulary words in their "Close Reader" workbooks for the story "The Pod". The story begins on page 19. The words can be found in the margins (sides) of the story and students should write the definitions there as well.

6D: has to define their vocabulary and come up with an example for each word. Words and definitions can be found on page 39 of their Collections textbook.

 

6B/6C: has to identify the rhyme scheme in each stanza of the poem. There are 9 stanzas total.

1. Students are completing the backside of their "Character Traits" worksheet. On the backside of that worksheet, they are comparing and contrasting the character traits of 2 characters from our story "The Ravine". (This story can be found in their textbook.) After filling in the chart, each student must use that information to write a 5-7 sentence paragraph about the characters' similarities and differences.

 

2. Students were taught how to create their vocabulary flashcards today. The vocab words are as follows:

- evident

- factor

- indicate

- specific

- similar

For the flashcards, the students must use the word on the front of the card in a sentence!

 

Tonight's Homework:

 

1) Students should complete the FRONT SIDE of the "Character Traits" Worksheet. Please make sure students are using complete sentences and citing textual evidence.

 

2) Students are also defining their vocabulary words using the glossary at the back of their textbooks.

 

Parents all students received a planner today. Remember you must sign their planner every night!

Tonight’s homework:
1) Students must read pages 3-12 of the story “The Ravine” and complete the “Setting A Purpose” task (mentioned on page 3). Their page should look like the picture attached.


2) Students should finish their Textbook, Scavenger Hunt.
