Today was Day 2 of the AZ Merit testing!Congratulations - Day 2 of 5 is done! 
Students have completed the Reading (Part 1) ofthe testing today and will finish the Reading (Part2) 
tomorrow. 

While I am very pleased with the entire group for their excellent morning testing behavior, the afternoon was entirely different, with half the class failing to meet expectations (doing FIRE and CHAMPS) rules, while the other half actually worked on learning how to use a dictionary. 
My shout outs for good behavior today are for Jocelyn, Karely, Renata, and Aaron for working hard and staying focused on the task assignment.
Tomorrow the class will complete our "review" andI am expecting everyone to participate 100% andwith integrity. 
Please remember to have your child get a goodnight's sleep, without technology use, and a good dinner. We will start on time and I look forward tohelping your child meet the standards head on! They are amazing and I am really glad to help them be ready for the next part of the the AZ Merit testing.

English - Day 2 of Spelling Challenge - complete for Homework tonight.   Students were given the option to take their Open Court Book home to read the story - Dancing Bird of Paradise. (pages 392-405).  There will be a quick pop quiz on the reading in the morning.

ELA - We are starting "centers" for READING. The Students did receive an English Packet, and they are 
required to complete ONE Spelling Task a day- if they started it today, please remind them to complete the task tonight. They have the English and Spanish Lesson Overview in the packet. We have not started the Open Court Lesson beyond spelling - that will happen tomorrow. 
Science - you will see your student bringing home Science books and Activities to complete on a weekly basis! Today they are starting their review of Section 4.2 Birds and Section 4.3 Bats and Birds.

Math - Students are to finish - attempt - the Time Elapsed Packet received today.  We will be reviewing in class - so i want them to try it -by themselves first. 
ELA - We took a break from the Open Court Book today and did a fun reading assignment on bears!  The students are supposed to  READ the story outloud to you - and tell you the "story".  They drew pictures to to help explain the setting of the story and it was FUN!  PLEASE sign the story so I know they did as they were told. 
The students also took the final Unit 3-2 spelling test.  I am grading the math tests from yesterday tonight.
