8th Grade- MIT Assignments

This week's sketch will focus on the element of Space. Using the shape of a keyhole, students will create the illusion of space within the keyhole. Really be creative with this one! What awaits you on the other side of the door? Sketches will be graded on composition, craftsmanship, creativity and completeness.

This week's sketch will focus on the element of Line. Students discussed zentangles designs and were asked to recreate these patterns within an animal of their choice. Students must add black or gray to their designs. Grades will be based on creativity, composition, creativity and completeness. 

This next sketch assignment will focus on the element of color. Students briefly observed and discussed the Color Wheel. Students are to somehow recreate the Color Wheel. Grading will be based on correct color placement (12 colors!), composition, creativity, craftsmanship and completeness. Students also need to have an object that represents them for Project 1.

On Wednesday, students took notes on the Elements of Art. Their first assignment is to create a unique Name Design for the inside of their sketch. Sketches must be done in color or demonstrate shading.

Students will need to obtain a 9 x 12" sketchbook. Sketchbooks can be purchased at Walmart, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Office Max, etc.
