Principal - Mrs. Norma Derby, M. Ed.


Mrs. Derby was previously a teacher for Math and Science Success Academy (MASSA), and began her principalship for the 2016-2017 school year. She has over seventeen years of educational experience spanning grades K-12 within special education, and 3rd through 5th grade general education. In addition, Mrs. Derby has two years of administrative experience at Tucson Unified School District as a program coordinator and Assistant Director of the Exceptional Education Department. She loves building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners, and considers herself a partner in education to ensure every student's success.

Instructional Coach - Ms. Dana Rones

Ms. Rones is MASSA's K-8 Instructional Coach and greatly enjoys the opportunity to coach and mentor fellow teachers.  Ms. Rones graduated from Towson University (Towson, MD).  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (1-8 grades).  Ms. Rones is a highly qualified certified teacher with a Standard Arizona Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education including a Middle School Mathematics Endorsement. This is Ms. Rones's 6th year at MASSA and her 13th year working with and teaching grades K-8.  

Ms. Rones is currently First Aid/CPR/AED certified.  She is a former CPR/ First Aid/ Lifeguard Instructor and Pool Manager. Prior to college Ms. Rones spent 2 years in AmeriCorps completing full-time community service projects including directing an after-school program, working with the Special Olympics, tutoring, and environmental work. In her free time Ms. Rones enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, coffee, donuts, shoes, reading/ book club, music (She plays the flute!), Fact Friday, and laughter.
